Greentube: Another operator on the UKGC’s chopping block

Who is this about?

Greentube (Novomatic Interactive) on one side, who is known mainly for providing a large range of online and mobile games such as: slots, table, video poker and bingo, as well as operating casinos like StarVegas or Admiral. And UKGC (United Kingdom Gambling Commission) on the other, the institution who will stop at nothing to keep UK players safe and “gambling crime-free”.

What happened?

Greentube Alderney’s subsidiaries: Admiralcasino.co.uk and Bellfruitcasino.com came under UKGC’s scrutiny, all while failing the money laundering and player protection checks. This resulted in a £685,000 fine.

The penalty is recent, but concerns over Greentube’s casino activity date since December 2019. Back then, Greentube failed to comply with various Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice requirements in regards to money laundering procedures, transfer of funds, record keeping and ensuring safe interaction with players.

A “politically exposed person was able to gamble up to a £1,000 deposit limit before source of wealth checks were carried out” says the comission. In addition to this, Greentube failed to submit no less than six reports of suspicious activity to the National Crime Agency.

What’s next for Greentube?

UKGC has added specific conditions to Greentube’s licence, forcing it to carry out a third-party audit to review its compliance with LCCP conditions within 12 months. Afterwards, this new report will be disected and Greentube once more investigated.
